What made me embrace this endeavor was my love of helping people to have a better life experience. To weather the death of a loved one is hard. I wanted to specifically focus on one idea to help make the happiest season of the year a more joyful experience for those who have lost a loved one by showing them that taking an action to remember that person can make all the difference.

I became involved after hearing how this story isn't just an imagined story, but a real tradition this family has been doing to celebrate their loved one for 20 years. Being able to illustrate such an honest tale, while helping others find the same comfort they feel is not something I could turn down. Plus, I’ve never been asked to draw a magical, happy graveyard before. Challenge accepted.

I was blessed to have my very own Mr. Christmas who helped me get through the holidays as a young girl. Christmas is my absolute favorite time and I am lucky that through the years I still get to include Wes in our spirit and traditions. I took on this passion project so that others who have gone through what I have can find joy out of heartache, especially during the holiday season.
